A LETTER FROM FEAR
I got a letter from fear
In a crisp brown envelop
It wasn’t in the post
It was slipped under the door
And why did fear slip a letter under the door?
Why did it not knock, bang or break the door
Fear creeps in from crevices
Like little geckos from splintered walls
So I read the letter
It said tomorrow will not come
Because the sun will be held hostage
It said tomorrow will not come
Because my heart could fail
It said tomorrow will not come
Because my health could fail
It said tomorrow will not come
Because the world could go up in a bubble of flames
It was a long letter
Awry, scary like an unending horror movie
It said what if gravity ceased
And there was no friction
That every place will crash
And the orbit of the earth will be overrun
But I squeezed the letter and sent it to the trash can
The sun is shinning
Even when its night here, the sun is shining elsewhere
The sun always shines
It’s not always night
Even at night the moon glows
So I said..
It’s just a letter
And I’m still here
It’s just a letter
And I can write one too
So I chose to write …
That the wind will blow
I will breathe fresh air
I will love the greenery
I will lie on the sea shore
And watch the ships stroll by
I will be bold like the sailors horn
And sturdy like the sailors anchor
I will look at fear in the eye and ask where are you now?
